Color Inspiration

I struggle with putting colors together in ways that look nice.

Even though I’m familiar with basic color theory I squint at fabric, yarn and embroidery floss for far too long when I try to make my choices. Something always feels not quite right.

Is that blue too blue?

Red, or pink? How about mauve?

Does this green make your eyes bleed?

Surely, I said to myself, I can’t be the only one.

If you could also use some suggestions for inspiring color palettes,  you need to check out Design Seeds.

Not only are the palettes beautiful, but they’re also paired with a lovely photo so you can see how it might look in a real life setting. Color swatches are great, but I think it’s really helpful to see the source photo that the colors were drawn from.

With multiple palettes posted almost every day, you’re bound to find some color combinations that you MUST USE RIGHT NOW WHERE DID I PUT MY FLOSS??

Here are some of my favorites. For today, anyway. Ask me tomorrow and I’ll probably have a different answer.

Jessica (the color-minded genius behind Design Seeds) is also on pinterest – you can find her boards here.

Hey, I’m on pinterest too! I love connecting with fellow pinners. Won’t you follow me so I can follow you back?
